Committed to Quality Patient Care in Macon County Macon County General Hospital (MCGH) is located in Lafayette, Tennessee. We are a private, not-for-profit community hospital that seeks to provide the best combination of the latest medical technology with down-home care. Our trained, professional staff strives to provide the best quality care. MCGH is a 25-bed voluntary [non-governmental and not-for-profit] critical access facility receiving no tax support. The hospital is a member of the Tennessee Hospital Association, the American Hospital Association and the Federation of American Hospitals. We are approved for Medicare and TennCare (Medicaid) reimbursement. Macon County General Hospital was founded in 1955 by Drs. Smith and Chitwood and has operated in the same location since that time. Over the years, the hospital changed ownership until 1976 when the hospital was sold to the Health and Educational Facilities Board. The Board sold bonds to purchase and renovate the existing facility. The bonds have since been paid off, and MCGH is now owned by Macon Hospital, Inc. MCGH is managed by QHR, L.L.C. and governed by a Board of Directors. They are dedicated to providing you the best possible care at the lowest possible cost.
