Committed to Quality Patient Care in Macon County

Macon County General Hospital (MCGH) is located in Lafayette, Tennessee. We are a private, not-for-profit community hospital that seeks to provide the best combination of the latest medical technology with down-home care.

Our trained, professional staff strives to provide the best quality care.

MCGH is a 25-bed voluntary [non-governmental and not-for-profit] critical access facility receiving no tax support.  The hospital is a member of the Tennessee Hospital Association, the American Hospital Association and the Federation of American Hospitals.  We are approved for Medicare and TennCare (Medicaid) reimbursement.

Macon County General Hospital was founded in 1955 by Drs. Smith and Chitwood and has operated in the same location since that time.

Over the years, the hospital changed ownership until 1976 when the hospital was sold to the Health and Educational Facilities Board.  The Board sold bonds to purchase and renovate the existing facility.  The bonds have since been paid off, and MCGH is now owned by Macon Hospital, Inc.  MCGH is managed by QHR, L.L.C. and governed by a Board of Directors.  They are dedicated to providing you the best possible care at the lowest possible cost.

Diagnostic Imaging

We provide imaging services to assist your doctor in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and trauma. These imaging services include diagnostic x-ray, CT scans, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, MRI, and mammography. Our equipment is state-of-the-art and our personnel are highly trained, competent, and caring individuals.

Laboratory

The laboratory performs tests ordered by your physician on blood and other bodily fluids. This information, along with your history, physical examination, and possible other diagnostic tests are used by your physician to determine your problem and how well your treatment plan is working for you. Performance improvement, quality control and proficiency testing insures that the results given to your physician are accurate.
