THREE-DIMENSIONAL ART SHOW. September 18. All three-dimensional artists and craftsperson's are invited to enter Macon County Arts Council's first 3-dimensional arts festival entitled "Nature's Arts -- A Craft Market". The event will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., on the grounds of the Thomas House in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee. The market will be open to all artists, both professional and amateur, who are 18 years of age or older. All artists must work in a 3-dimensional medium derived from natural materials. Each artist will have his or her own booth. Acceptable media includes clay, wood, glass, basketry, flint knapping, or any similar craft that specifically uses natural materials. Stitchery will not be acceptable. There will be a one-time $25 fee for booth rental for the market. That is the only cost. All sales are for the artists' benefit and no further commission is required by the arts council. Entry forms are available from Frame It in Lafayette, or by phoning Ricky Wilson at 666-6081 or Nancy Doss at 644-5179. Entry forms should be returned by August 15.
OPEN HOUSE AT THE AIRPORT. September 18. CKC Adventures, LLC, located at the Lafayette Municipal Airport, is holding an Open House on Saturday, September 18, 2010. The event will begin at 10:00am and go until dark. There will be a static aircraft display, concessions, and a bounce house for the kids. Door prizes will be given out throughout the day, gift certificates for flight lessons will be sold, and information on their new flight school will be on hand. Pilots will be flying in from all over the area to attend the event, and will be interested in receiving information about Macon County while here. Therefore, local businesses will have booths in which to hand out information on their services. This is a great opportunity to make new business connections. The event is expected to draw a crowd from local citizens, pilots, and aviation enthusiasts as well.
